Educational/Professional Background

Alexis Krones received her bachelor’s and master's degrees in social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During her time at UIUC, she has worked on several research projects as an undergraduate and graduate research assistant in the Violence Prevention Research Lab and as a graduate research assistant and academic professional at the Center for Prevention Research and Development. Alexis currently serves as a Project Director at the Children and Family Research Center.

Research/Practice Interests

Alexis' research broadly examines the role poverty plays on intact families engaged with the child welfare system.

Current Projects

Alexis is the Project Director for Empower Parenting with Resources (EmPwR), a research study examining the causal impact of unrestricted cash gifts on intact families in the state of Illinois. The study will identify whether reducing economic hardship can improve child and family wellbeing and reduce child maltreatment and involvement in the child welfare system in Illinois.
