Educational/Professional Background

Dr. Zainab “Zee” Suntai received her PhD in social work from the University of Alabama, and her MSW from New York University. Her research career began during her MSW internships, where she assisted with research projects to improve social outcomes for low-income persons. Her research training constitutes both qualitative and quantitative methods, and she has several years of experience leading research projects as an independent researcher. Her research skills include quantitative data analysis, surveys, case studies, qualitative interviews, focus groups, and other traditional research approaches.

Research/Practice Interests

Dr. Suntai’s research and practice interests broadly focus on racial disparities and the theory of intersectionality.
